Welcome to the 2017-2018 FNV Griffins Hockey Website

Team Roster

Head Coach- Ron Miller

email: remiller19@hotmail.com

The 2017-2018 season will be his 6th season with FNV, and has been the only Head Coach in Griffins history. Miller brings a 61-64-7 high school coaching record in the season. Prior to joining the Griffins, Miller coached Three seasons at Saginaw Valley State University (ACHA) carrying a 72-21-6 record in his tenure, while emerging as a national powerhouse and winning the 2009-2010 ACHA Division III National Championship, along with 2009-2010 and 2011-2012 Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference Championships.

Ron played college hockey at American International College (NCAA, D1) in Springfield, MA prior to a brief minor league career in the United Hockey League and Southern Professional Hockey League. In his playing days, Miller was Coached by current NHL Coaches, played with and against many NHL players, and Coached by many former NHL players. He looks and hopes to pass along the valuable knowledge that was passed along to him, as a player.

Coach Miller looks for a successful 2017-2018 Season, while developing habits to help guide players for success both on and off the ice. Coach Miller seeks the Griffins first Mid-Michigan Hockey Conference Championship.

Assistant Coach- Trey Nightingale

The 2017-18 season will be Trey’s fifth as an assistant coach for the Griffins. Prior to joining FNV for the inaugural season in 2012-13, Trey was a volunteer coach for youth hockey through the Greater Saginaw Amateur Hockey Association (G.S.A.H.A.) from 2006 – 2012. Trey has been involved at Saginaw Bay Ice Arena as a player and a coach for quite a few years. He grew up playing travel hockey as a member of the Saginaw Badgers within the G.S.A.H.A. As a coach, Trey is very knowledgeable with the finer points of hockey and will work very closely with our Defense core, and oversee our penalty kill. Trey draws inspiration for his coaching style from some of the greats, like Eddie Shore, Dit Clapper, and Toe Blake.

Assistant Coach- Randy Warchol

Randy has been involved with hockey for over 25 years. This will be Randy's 3rd Season with the Griffins, and will work closely with the skill development with our forwards.  He has have played at the Junior hockey level and he brings knowledge of what is needed to play at the next level.  Randy is a firm believer that this opportunity is more than just a sport, and is a tool to learn life lessons such as accountability and time-management. Type your paragraph here.
